Matthew Hall was born in Perth, Western Australia. He has written on football for Australian and international publications including The Guardian, The New York Times, The Sun-Herald, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Foreign Policy, FOX Sports, SBS-TV, Rolling Stone, Playboy, FourFourTwo, and When Saturday Comes. He lives in New York City where he coaches youth teams for Brooklyn City FC.
