Notes From Your Bookseller

All your favorite medeians are back, and the stakes couldn’t be higher! This follow-up to The Atlas Six is sexy, smart, and brilliantly written. With its cinematic setting and compelling characters you love to love, hate, and lust after, this dark academia sensation is impossible to put down!

The Atlas Paradox is the long-awaited sequel to Olivie Blake's New York Times bestselling dark academic sensation The Atlas Six-guaranteed to have even more yearning, backstabbing, betrayal, and chaos.

Six magicians were presented with the opportunity of a lifetime.
Five are now members of the Society.
Two paths lay before them.

All must pick a side.

Alliances will be tested, hearts will be broken, and The Society of Alexandrians will be revealed for what it is: a secret society with raw, world-changing power, headed by a man whose plans to change life as we know it are already under way.

"The Atlas Six introduced six of the most devious, talented, and flawed characters to ever find themselves in a magical library, and then sets them against one another in a series of stunning betrayals and reversals. As much a delicious contest of wit, will, and passion as it is of magic...half mystery, half puzzle, and wholly a delight."-New York Times bestselling author Holly Black

Editorial Reviews

DECEMBER 2022 - AudioFile

A full cast performs the second book in the Atlas series. Six of the world’s most talented young magic wielders are offered a place in the Society, an organization veiled in mystery. When one of the six disappears, the other five must decide whether they will set aside their ambitions to find her or continue on their path to power. The audiobook features a large cast of characters, and each one’s perspective is performed by a different narrator. The plot is full of delightful twists and turns, but, sadly, with inconsistent sound editing across so many different narrators, it’s easy for listeners to become confused over which character is doing what or what’s going on in the story. PRAISE FOR THE ATLAS SIX:

"The Atlas Six introduces six of the most devious, talented, and flawed characters to ever find themselves in a magical library, and then sets them against one another in a series of stunning betrayals and reversals. As much a delicious contest of wit, will, and passion as it is of magic, this book is half mystery, half puzzle, and wholly a delight." — Holly Black, New York Times bestselling author of The Book of Night

"Lethally smart. Filled with a cast of brilliantly realized characters, each entangled with one another in torturously delicious ways, The Atlas Six will grip you by the throat and refuse to let go. Olivie Blake is a mind-blowing talent. " — Chloe Gong, New York Times bestselling author of These Violent Delights

"Compelling, entertaining, and addictive. The Atlas Six is academic Darwinism: survival of the smartest with a healthy dose of magic." — T.L. Huchu, author of The Library of The Dead

"
This chilling story of ambition and magic will make you question your own morals as you grow to love (and hate) its fascinating, ruthless cast of characters. I utterly devoured this book." — Amanda Foody, New York Times bestselling author of All of Us Villains

Library Journal

09/01/2022

In this sequel to The Atlas Six, Blake dives even deeper into the Alexandrian Society to grapple with the morality of world changing information being kept from the masses. The Society are protectors of the Alexandrian library and have six magician students, but only five can be initiated. One of them, Libby, was kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend and is being kept in isolation. The remaining five vow to continue looking for her. The initiation, however, tears their trust in each other apart—threatening the alliance to find Libby—even as they are also still bound to finish their final year and contribute their research to the library. Blake brilliantly uses fantasy trappings, and plenty of cliff hangers and twists, to tell a story that leaves readers questioning everything they believe to be true in the world she has created. Her characters prove to be unreliable as readers learn more about them and get to know other characters that will drive the story further and connect the multiple timelines. VERDICT Recommend Blake's gripping series to fans of Naomi Novik, Erin Morgenstern, and Katherine Arden.—Leigh Verburg
