A Colorado sheriff must battle ancient giants that have been let loose from captivity by a huge earthquake. His town and its residents, including his girlfriend, are under possible attack. A hunting lodge, his cousins ranch and a small town have been destroyed. His request for military help does not resolve the problem. His help finally comes from a surprise source. This is the first of two sagas about the sheriff, his romance with Peggy, his tribulations and his resolve to protect his friends and the community.
