About the Author

Sten Cedergren was born 27 November 1919 in Sweden. As a young man, he worked on a cattle ranch in Chaco Boreal, Paraguay. During the Korean War, he joined the United States Army in 1952 and served in the 82nd Airborne Division. Later, he served in the Special Forces in Bad Tölz, Germany. In 1955 he began working in Kenya for Carr-Hartley, a well-known game catcher. The next year, he joined White Hunters in Nairobi, and he worked as a control officer for the game department between safaris. Mr. Cedergren has hunted extensively in East Africa, the Sudan, and Botswana. He moved to Zimbabwe in 1977 and farmed coffee until 1980. Since then, he has been a professional game hunter in Zimbabwe, mainly in the Zambezi Valley. Sten and his wife, Lolo, lived in Harare, Zimbabwe, with their two children.
