About the Author

Dee is very gifted and versatile, and possesses an extremely diverse background. She was born and raised in Malibu, California. She came to Colorado in June of 1969 with her husband and her son. She finished her cosmetology schooling in Colorado and has been a cosmetologist for 50 years, and owned her own salon for more than 5 years.

Since 1985 she has owned SJD Enterprises where she sells top of the line skin care products. She taught water aerobics and earned her certification to teach Arthritis Water Therapy at Fitzsimons Hospital.
In 1995 she created and ran a specialty airport transportation business called Executives to Airport, better known as ETA. That business thrived for 23 years when she closed it down.

For more than 30 years she ran a storage facility on her property for vehicles, boats, and motor homes. She is now retired and is doing a small bread baking business to share treats with friends and neighbors.

She became an author by accident. Out of a desire to encourage and brighten the days of her friends, neighbors, and even strangers who were shut in because of medical issues or restricted due to the COVID pandemic, she started dressing her bear named Zelda in different outfits every day and having her sit on the front porch. When people walked by they would see Zelda, walk up to see her, and began to look forward to seeing her different outfits every day. Friends and neighbors started loaning Zelda different kinds of sports equipment and other props to help her with her daily themes, and even began sharing ideas for her to do.

Dee took photos of Zelda each day and texted them to her friends that were not able to get out of the house. They, too, found that Zelda brought a smile to them and they looked forward to hearing from her each day.

Dee was encouraged to share Zelda’s adventures with a wider audience, and that is how “The Adventures of Zelda” was born. It is Dee’s hope that this book will help others affected by the pandemic or are otherwise shut in not feel so alone and put a smile on their faces every day.
