► The amusing misadventures of an anti-hero.
The Adventures of Pinocchio, Story of a Puppet, is a novel written by Carlo Collodi (pseudonym of writer Carlo Lorenzini) in Florence between 1881 and 1883.
It is considered a canonical piece of children's literature and has inspired hundreds of new editions, stage plays, merchandising and movies, such as Walt Disney's iconic animated version and commonplace ideas such as a liar's long nose. According to an extensive research done by the Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi in late 1990's and based on UNESCO sources it has been adapted in more than 240 languages worldwide. That makes it among the most translated and widely read books ever written.
The novel has as its protagonist a well-known fictional character, Pinocchio precisely, invented by the author himself, who calls him a puppet, despite being morphologically more similar to a marionette (wooden body, presence of joints) and places him at the center of many adventures that have become celebrated, beloved by adults and children alike, perhaps because they resemble more to cheerful and rocambolic misadventures of a picaresque anti-hero.

The text of the novel is complete and unaltered.
