Gr 4-6-Fifteen-year-old Aidan and his sister Meg, 11, are trying to become accustomed to a normal life after being fugitives hunted by the FBI while their parents were in prison for a crime they didn't commit. In the last two books of Gordon Korman's On the Run series (Public Enemies, Hunting the Hunter) the parents were framed for aiding terrorists, but there are still a lot of people who consider them traitors. In the first book (Scholastic, pap. 2006) of Korman's new series, Meg is kidnapped on her way home from school, and Aidan barely escapes capture. In order to find Meg, the family must cooperate with the FBI, the same individuals who wrongly incarcerated the parents. Months of near-death escapes and evading the police have made Meg and Aidan exceptionally resourceful and quick-thinking teenagers. Meg tries everything she can to escape her captors, while Aidan does what he can to find his sister, even going alone to deliver a $2 million ransom to the captors. The action-packed story ends with Meg held captive in a car trunk. The book is well narrated by Christie Moreau as Meg and Andrew Rannels as Aidan. Listeners will eagerly await the next installment of this adventure that features lots of action and brave, believable characters.-Teresa Wittmann, Westgate School, Edmonds, WA Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
