About the Author

Close to twenty years of progressive experience in the area of HIV/AIDS. Wanda London had an up-close and very personal passion for sharing information and knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS and the risky behavior that expose people to this infection. Wanda was diagnosed with HIV and AIDS in the mid-nineties. After searching for help and resource, she came upon an awesome AIDS Service Organization (ASO) that assisted her on understanding her disease, but they also demonstrated to her on how she could live with this disease. Wanda was eventually hired by this agency, which started her journey on the road to recovery. While employed with The Aliveness Project of NWI, Wanda was employed in several different areas in the field of HIV/AIDS over the course of several years. Starting out as a “treatment advocate” and “Speakers Bureau,” she eventually became a HIV care coordinator assisting clients in care management. However, during her tenure with the Aliveness Project, Northwest Indiana, as much as she enjoyed all that she was exposed to, her real enjoyment came from working with the Speakers Bureau. One of Wanda’s duties while employed at the Aliveness Project of Northwest Indiana was to conduct HIV 101 for local community groups and organizations to educate them on definition of the HIV/AIDS virus, safer sex, harm reduction, and the experience of living with the HIV/AIDS virus. Speakers Bureau exposed Wanda to the real world, and it allowed her to not only develops her skills in the field of HIV/AIDS, but it also allowed her to share information through conducting HIV 101 class in the Northwest Indiana School System and the community. Wanda started to realize that most of the students all seemed to have the same concerns regarding the HIV/AIDS virus, along with similar myths and stigma on the subject of the HIV/AIDS virus. Wanda wanted to set the record straight than and hopefully educate the students in an open setting. This book is based on several selected questions that children asked and Wanda’s responses during those classes room sessions.
