On the torment side, Revelation 9 says those who don't have the seal of God on their foreheads will be tortured for 5 months, and this is before the damned get shipped off to the lake of fire.
Revelation 20. 12-15 says we are judged by our works at the Last Judgment. If your name is written in the Book of Life you go to Heaven. If your name is not written in the Book of Life you get thrown into the lake of fire.
St. Paul is quite clear that we are saved by faith and not by works. Evidently we are judged by our works to determine if our faith is legit. Recall James 2. 17 - faith without works is dead. Recall Luke 13. 3 - Repent or Perish. James 1. 26 says your religion is useless is you don't bridle your tongue. If your religion is useless then it won't deliver you to Heaven. Don't cuss and curse.
The Roman Catholic Church actually teaches the doctrine that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. Catholics say there is no reason to renounce Rome, because, Catholics insist, Rome is God's True Church which leads people to Heaven. Yes that is sound logic if indeed Rome is God's True Church. But if Rome is a false church which leads people to eternal then Catholics have a reason to renounce Rome! 2 Thess 1. 8 mentions hellfire for those who don't know God and who don't obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Lots of Protestants (and lots of Catholics) insist you don't know God if you say Christians and Muslims worship the same God. Lots of Protestant churches say it is no longer necessary to keep the Commandment to keep the Sabbath Day Holy. But if you will go to Hell if you refuse to keep the Sabbath Day Holy, then you have a reason to renounce those Protestant churches which lead people to perdition because they refuse to keep the Commandment to keep the Sabbath Day Holy. The Seventh Day Adventists say their church leads people to Heaven, and so they have no reason to renounce the SDA. But the SDA teaches the doctrine that the archangel Michael is Jesus and Jesus is God. But it is an evil heresy to say the archangel Michael is Jesus / God! So, the SDA is a false church which leads people to eternal perdition! But the Seventh Day Adventists don't see it that way! They say the SDA church is God's True Church which leads people to Heaven.
The typical Christian reasons that since grandma was in church X then church X must lead people to Heaven, because it is too upsetting to think church X is a false church which dragged granny down to eternal perdition. Yes, but if this worthless church X did drag granny down to eternal perdition, then try not to let false church X drag her grandchildren down to eternal perdition!
The Non-Christians say we Christians are fools for believing Jesus is God.
But if the Non-Christians are misguided, if Jesus is God, then you can trust the Christian Hellfire scriptures. If Christianity is true then you can trust John 14. 23-26, Matthew 25. 31-46, Revelation 20. 12-15...you will get tossed into the lake of fire if your name is not written in the Book of Life. You will go to eternal perdition if you are not in the True Church! So, you simply must find a way to get your name written in the Book of Life.
