Baby-Toddler—With a note that these are "essential signs to learn with baby," here are 26 words are taught in American Sign Language in a march through the alphabet. The gestures are taught in pictures, but some will benefit from any video demonstration freely available online. In Pura Belpré Award Honoree Lora's bright graphics, children of many different skin tones are shown using the signs with facial expressions and situations that make the concepts very clear.
