About the Author

Paul Ingevaldson discovered IT in 1965 working for Data Processing Consultants
in Chicago. He retired at the end of 2004, completing forty years in the IT industry.
During those years, he worked as a programmer, analyst,and systems manager at Sears;
spent two years in the U.S. Army, ultimately repairing computers in Vietnam; and spent twenty-fi ve years at Ace Hardware, becoming their fi rst CIO and ultimately achieving
the position of Senior Vice President of International and Technology for Ace. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business (BBA) and an MBA from Loyola University in Chicago.

Since retirement, Paul has remained active in the industry,writing over thirty articles for Computerworld and CIO magazine, keynoting several IT conferences, guest lecturing
in various Master’s Degree classes at Northern Illinois University, conducting on-site seminars, and participating in several podcasts along with blogging for Th e Center for
CIO Leadership and Th e Digital Manufacturing Report.

In his spare time, Paul engages in lifetime learning, primarily in the areas of science and world history. He is an avid amateur photographer and does a bit of traveling.
As of this writing, he has visited seventy-fi ve countries around the world.
