In 2012, during the election year of first term President Lawrence Matthews, a malicious virus breaks out across the world, mysteriously starting from a small little village in Italy. With the death tolls rising at an astounding rate, health officials are puzzled about how this sickness is even moving through the world communities without people showing symptoms.
Seasoned Journalist Gerry Winslow from the City Courier receives a cryptic call requesting that he and his colleague Danielle "Dani" Chambers meet to discuss about a sensitive topic involving "the Pandemic."
The mysterious man reveals himself giving Gerry a flash-drive, explaining that there is more at stake than anyone would realize. Tensions rise as they hear all the information that would be labeled a "conspiracy" until they are exposed. As the man tries to remove himself, he is gunned down along with everyone in the area. Gerry gives Dani the flash-drive and safely hides her, risking his life.
With nowhere to go, alone and no one that she could trust, Dani arrives at the doorstep of Dennis Stone, a former cameraman for a local news station, with past history on this "virus."
On the run from an unknown entity, Dennis risks his life to protect Dani and the "dark information" that she holds onto. The doomsday clock is ticking, and the hunt has begun.
