Overview

Internetul a schimbat complet lumea, cultura şi obiceiurile oamenilor. După o primă fază caracterizată prin transferul liber al informaţiilor, au apărut preocupările pentru siguranţa comunicaţiilor online şi confidenţialitatea utilizatorilor. Tehnologia blockchain asigură ambele aceste deziderate. Relativ nouă, ea are şansa să producă o nouă revoluţie.
Bitcoin este principalul sistem de plată peer-to-peer şi monedă digitală care foloseşte tehnologia blockchain. Bitcoin va avea nevoie de structuri de guvernare pentru a supravieţui, existând deja semne de structuri de guvernanţă emergente. Aceste moduri de guvernare se pot baza pe consens şi, dacă conducerea se opune, comunitatea poate să aleagă un alt curs.
Tehnologiile blockchain au un statut ontologic specific tehnologiilor web emergente, oferind perspective noi în comparaţie cu ceea ce cunoaştem ca realitate. Tehnologiile blockchain nu funcţionează autonom şi discret, ci interconectate cu multe alte aspecte ale concepţiilor noastre despre realitate, atât fizic cât şi virtual. Ele extind aspectele existenţei noastre şi abilităţile noastre de a modela şi de a crea realitatea. Rezultă că blockchain nu este doar o nouă tehnologie, ci chiar un nou tip de tehnologie, putând constitui un mod inovativ şi fundamental al configurării realităţii.
