About the Author

Kay Winters, a former teacher and language arts consultant, is now devoting herself to writing for children full-time. Kay is the author of a number of children's books, including Whooo's Haunting The Teeny Tiny Ghost?, also illustrated by Lynn Munsinger; Did You See What I Saw?: Poems about School, illustrated by Martha Weston; and Abe Lincoln: The Boy Who Loved Books, illustrated by Nancy Carpenter.Kay lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Earl. Her favorite Halloween costume is Little Red Riding Hood — she still has a long red cape and a basket!

Lynn Munsinger has illustrated many favorite books for children, including The Teeny Tiny Ghost and Whooo's Haunting the Teeny Tiny Ghost? by Kay Winters. She divides her time between Vermont and Massachusetts.

When he makes it successfully up and zooms to the bottom, the little ghost realizes that, "Being brave just takes practice." He then puts his bravery to the test when he encounters spooky happenings at home. With his black cats in tow, the tiny ghost uncovers the fact that his cousin has been targeting him as part of his "hide and haunt" homework. Fans of the first book will enjoy this gently scary offering that features the same Goreyesque artwork and rhythmic text. Ghostly holiday fare for the teeny-tiny set. The timorous specter from this team's The Teeny Tiny Ghost (1998) reappears for a thrilling, hair-raising adventure. Woefully faint-hearted, the teeny tiny ghost knows he must practice being brave and in the school yard he valiantly faces the intimidating playground slide. However, when he returns home to discover empty rocking chairs moving on their own, mysteriously billowing draperies, and rattling chains, the apprehensive apparition's courage is tested. Winters's suspenseful story lends itself to a rousing recital at story hours; the steadily building tension as the diminutive spirit searches the house will generate delightful shivers, while the prosaic climax, in which it is revealed that Cousin Brad is completing his "hide and haunt" homework, prevents the tale from becoming too frightening for a younger audience. Munsinger's merry illustrations, overflowing with many humorous touches, contribute to this gleefully boisterous tale. (Picture book. 3-8) .
