Overview

Fires are awakening deep within the Earth—dormant for millennia. The Great Mother is angry and the world will soon learn the power of her wrath.

At the base of Mount Rainier, twenty-six-year-old Yara Del Rey gathers data for her dissertation in geology. A talented and promising young volcanologist, Yara is alarmed by the recent rumblings of the legendary volcano.

When a team of NASA and USGS scientists kidnaps Yara off the side of Mount Rainier, she is whisked to Wyoming, where a greater threat stirs within the bowels of an ancient caldera. Yara is plunged into the politics and the greed of a multi-billion-dollar NASA plan to pump chilled water into the magma chambers of the Yellowstone volcano—something Yara warns could lead to an apocalyptic catastrophe.

Yara's warnings go ignored and after she separates from the team of scientists, she hires ex-Navy pilot Clayton Red Sky, to fly her over Yellowstone in a hot-air balloon to assess the condition of the caldera. Before they can depart, disaster strikes and sends Yara and Clay on a desperate journey to escape the oncoming shock wave and billowing clouds of fiery ash.

A scorched earth and a race against time stand in the way of Yara and her six-year-old daughter Kalani, thousands of miles away in Tacoma, Washington.

The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat and it was a nail-biting experience. The characters were well-developed, and they all have a purpose. They were unusual, relatable, and strong throughout the story. It is skillfully written. Kevin has created a realistic story filled with drama while building tension with all the twists and turns. I thoroughly enjoyed Taquoma and recommend it highly."

About the Author

Air Force veteran and Award-Winning Best-Selling Author, Kevin D. Miller woke up one day to learn his last name wasn't the name he used his entire life. His name wasn't Miller, it was Puchalski. Some old newspaper articles he stumbled across revealed a deep family secret and a terrible tragedy that occurred on a farm in rural Ohio in 1920. This sent him on a search for the truth. A truth his grandfather took to his grave and never spoke of. What Kevin learned about his grandfather and his family shook him to his core and still reverberates to this day. The story affected him so profoundly, that he decided to write a book about it, "HEART OF STEEL: Based on a True Story", and share his grandfather's incredible and inspiring story of courage and love for his family.

Kevin's love of telling stories continues with his later releases of, WHITE SKIES BLACK MINGO, EYES OF MORPHEUS, and TAQUOMA. THE TIMEPIECE LEGACY was released in the summer of 2023 and is the first book of the Timepiece Trilogy.

Kevin was born in Canton, Ohio, and grew up in Tempe, Arizona. He lives with his wife, Annette, and two daughters, Emily and Gracie who are pursuing acting careers in Hollywood. Kevin is also a professional Web Developer and fitness enthusiast.
