Overview

Hal Jordan of Earth is the greatest hero of the Green Lantern Corps, the intergalactic force that keeps the peace throughout the cosmos, but there are thousands of other Green Lanterns, most of whom are not even human. This new graphic novel gathers some of their stories in one volume for the first time, in which these heroes face both the evil of those who would stand against them and their own inner conflicts.

About the Author

Born in 1926, Gil Kane and his family moved from their native Latvia to New York City when Kane was three. By his late teens, Kane, an artistic prodigy, had left his mark on every major comics publisher of the day, including MLJ, Prize, Quality, Marvel, and DC, for whom he drew Wildcat, Johnny Thunder, and a plethora of Western, science fiction and true crime tales. In 1959, he joined with John Broome to revive the Golden Age hero Green Lantern, and in the process totally revamped the look of the feature, giving the Emerald Gladiator the trademark sleek, streamlined costume he wears to this day.
Over the years, Kane’s work has come to stand as the textbook definition of dynamic drawing. A master of style, he imbued each of his drawings with an unequaled sense of power and motion. Though Kane continued to illustrate GREEN LANTERN throughout the 1960s, he lent pencil and pen to many other series as well, including Marvel’s Captain America and The Amazing Spider-Man and Tower’s T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents. Kane passed away in 2000.
