About the Author

Charles Lamb (1775-1834) was an English poet and essay writer born in London. He was friends with many prominent literary figures, including William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. One of his most celebrated works is the children's book 'Tales from Shakespeare' (1807), which he wrote in collaboration with his sister, Mary.

While dated in many aspects, these stories remain excellent introductions for readers of all ages engaging with Shakespeare for the first time. Originally published in 1807, the Lambs' work summarizes the plots of the most popular plays in a narrative form that is reminiscent of fairy tales.
