About the Author

Ronnie Knox-Mawer grew up in Wrexham, North Wales. During the Second World War he served in the Royal Horse Artillery and then read Law at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. After being called to the Bar, he served with HM Overseas Judiciary until 1970. After retiring from the bench, he devoted his time to writing. His many short stories were published in such magazines and newspapers as Punch, Cornhill Magazine and The Times. He was a regular broadcaster, as was his wife, June Knox-Mawer.
