About the Author
R.A. Ilyas is an Assistant Professor at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He received his Diploma in Forestry at the Universiti Putra Malaysia, Bintulu Campus (UPMKB), Sarawak, Malaysia and was then awarded the Public Service Department (JPA) scholarship to pursue his bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Chemical Engineering at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Upon completing his BSc. he undertook a PhD in the field of Biocomposite Technology & Design at the Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP) UPM.
Dr. Ilyas was been the recipient of numerous awards including the MVP Doctor of Philosophy Gold Medal Award {UPM] for Best PhD Thesis [2019] and the Top Student Award by INTROP, UPM. In 2018, he was awarded an Outstanding reviewer award by Elsevier for Carbohydrate Polymers. He has also received several best Paper Awards (11th AUN/SEED-Net Regional Conference on Energy Engineering Philippines), (Seminar Enau Kebangsaan 2019, Persatuan Pembangunan dan Industri Enau Malaysia), and the National Book Award in 2018.
S.M. Sapuan is a Professor of Composite Materials in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and Head of the Advanced Engineering Materials and Composite Research Centre at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Malaysia. His research interests focus on composite materials, biocomposites, design for sustainability, and natural fibre composites.
A. Khalina is a professor of biocomposite manufacturing technology, polymer biocomposites, disaster management research, and postharvest engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She was awarded her B.Eng in Agricultural Engineering in 1996 and Doctor of Philosophy in Biocomposite Technology from the Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2006. Currently she is Director of the Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP) at UPM Malaysia.
