Overview

Sergiu came from an orphanage in Romania where beatings, pain, and cruelty were common and many
of the older kids were to be feared. The adult caregivers mixed pebbles with the children's food to
fill their hungry bellies so at night they risked punishment to sneak out and dig through the
garbage and a nearby field for corn.

At eight years old Serg was adopted and moved to the United States.

Growing up, Serg struggled with demons from his past. As a teenager, he lost everything. As he moved
on with a new family and friends, he developed into a loving, insightful person who shared parts of his
own painful story, his humor, and his deep faith in God to try and help others.

About the Author

Lori continues to be a small-town girl at heart, living as a solo parent with her four youngest children
and two dogs, Mercy and Roscoe. In addition to this crew, she has three adult children out of the home,
five grandchildren, her boyfriend Mickey, parents Lee and Doris, and friends who all support
her ideas and the craziness in her life.

For many years Lori was a licensed foster and adoptive parent and cared for many children whose
families were in crisis. Although she chose to stop fostering to focus on all generations of her family,
Lori has remained close to several of the children that have aged out of the system.
