Overview

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the job of motherhood and wonder, "Is it me?" "Surviving Motherhood" systematically dismantles the "mom" job and delivers reassurance that, "No, it's not you...it's all that you're missing!"

Every other job in the world comes with the basics in tow... training, supplies, staff, peers, breaks, acknowledgment and on yes, pay! Moms are given none of these tools, and are left forage on their own. It's no wonder the job of being a mom can sometimes put, even the best among us, over the edge.

Surviving Motherhood looks at each of the obstacles moms face head-on, providing guidance from the experts to be sure, but also tips from the "experts next door." These are the moms who actually live the advice they share, and know firsthand what you're facing. It's packed with humor, fresh ideas, and resources you can test-drive right away.

Aren't there enough books about how to care for the baby, rejuvenate your marriage and cook healthy meals? It's about time for a book that focuses on the needs of the mom, the ultimate caregiver.

Surviving Motherhood will comfort you with the practical solutions of a close friend and embolden you with the attitude of a Fortune 100 CEO. Pick up your set of tools and turn the liabilities into assets, in the business of motherhood!

About the Author

I was born and raised in the Midwest - a suburb of Chicago to be exact. After graduating from Northern Illinois University I took a job in Silicon Valley, writing marketing materials as the region blossomed around me. The lack of "interesting" weather and a few strategically placed earthquakes pulled me back to my roots in Illinois.

So I traveled home, "settled down" (ie. got married, had kids), but never stopped writing. Who could after all, since motherhood alone is the motherload of material (ouch).

Writing has always held a prominent role in the positions I've held in Marketing. As I felt called to volunteer at NPOs which have crossed my path, I found satisfaction in helping them tell their story to the community. I now produce two monthly newsletters, run a growing NPO (Comfort for Critters), write freelance articles on a variety of topics and am always working on my next book!

I write about balun transformers (used in high-tech RF gadgets)... I write about making my own baby food (never trusted the colorful goo in jars)... I write about how God is reaching out to us every day (if we'd only take the time to notice!). A variety to be sure, reflecting the journey I can only see clearly in the rear-view mirror.

I hope to keep doing what I've been doing, until it's time to do something quite different. What a ride!
