About the Author

O. L. Cairo was born in Cuba but came to the United States as a teenager in the early years of the Castro era. She resides in Miami, FL.

An avid reader from a young age and a love for books gave her the encouragement in 2001, when her first grandchild was born, to begin outlining different ideas that she could one day tell her grandchildren as a bedtime story and in 2003, when she left the work force to take care of her third grandchild, she began in earnest to write them.

“Summer of 1955” is her recollection of a summer when she was 10 years old and is loosely based on her own experiences of the time.
