Douglas Preston's The Lost City of the Monkey God: A True Story is an account of the organization and findings of a 2015 expedition into the jungle of eastern Honduras. Preston accompanied the expedition and wrote about its discoveries. The expedition was inspired by legends of a lost civilization known as the White City. This city is probably mythical, but the expedition did uncover important archaeological remains of the pre-Columbian Mosquitia people.
