Overview

At the time one realizes or hears from the doctor that confinement to home or hospitalization are required, there are three options open - to refuse, which would appear to lack prudence - to enter into the experience with all the natural, human anxieties that are understandable or - to turn a physical exercise into a totally spiritual reflection completely in the hands of Jesus Christ - everything according to His Holy Will. We would encourage you to consider a choice of the third option to willingly accept the opportunity to share in the bodily sufferings or Our Savior.

About the Author

Bill McNamara was born in Boston, MA in 1918, the son of an Irish Immigrant mother and Boston Fireman father. He served in the U. S. Marines in WW II, a pilot of a B25 bomber in the Philippines, retiring as a Captain. In the subsequent 37 years he built a successful career as a department store senior executive while also sharing his knowledge with others as a college business professor.

You might say “What a full life this man led!”…..but I have only scratched the surface of what this remarkable man did over 93 plus years on this earth. My father was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a true disciple of Jesus Christ in word, but more importantly in deed. He worked, prayed, and fought for Social Justice for every waking hour of his many long days.

And in his final years of declining health, he “walked the walk” of what he has written on these pages. Rather than complain “why me” as mounting physical challenges were laid in his path, he offered his suffering up to the Lord, prayed often, loved perfectly, and waited patiently till that cold day in January of 2012 when the good Lord called him to be by His side. I miss him terribly, but take comfort in knowing that his many good works, like “Suffering with Christ”, will keep his spirit vibrant and ever-present.
