When a girl is injured right before his eyes during a bombing in the city, Nate makes the decision to help the girl at all costs. But Nathan's decision to help Maia will take him down a path that will change his life forever. His journey takes him to a strange place known as The Cortex, where he must learn to adapt to a new way of life in a place where everyone knows what he's thinking. Sometimes being surrounded by telepaths is a blessing, sometimes it is a burden. But one thing is certain: telepathy is always dangerous. When the people of The Cortex learn that their abilities are being exploited, Nathan and a group of others are forced to fight back. In the process Nate makes a series of discoveries that will put him to the test and will make him question both his past and his present.
