Overview

Thirty-one stories from eleven talented new writers: from the realities of early life on the Nebraska Prairie to the effects of the Afghan War. Stories of fireworks and alien beings from another galaxy to tales of Ireland's apparitions, ghosts and history. Explore the romance of the dance, the emotions evoked by fate or from memories, the evil of murder, and the joy of redemption. Laugh at the surmised life of a common kitchen utensil. These imaginative authors have taken a new look at age-old plots and woven fresh new stories revealing their diversity with gripping stories of mankind's struggles to help each other survive. Stories about life as it begins, unfolds and ends. All are explored. If variety is the spice of life, this book is all spice!

About the Author

This anthology of stories is the result of friendships forged as we attended a writing class at Osher Lifelong Learning. Express Yourself In Writing is a popular class led by Pat Edelman. Each week, she challenges us to create a short story based on a particular topic. The following week, we read our work to the class. We consider each story, discuss the narratives presented and offer thought and opinions. We formed a diverse group of imaginative adults whose talents grew and never failed to amuse and engage us. An unexpected bonus was discovering how sharing our stories around the table, generated feelings of friendship and support for each other. We agreed that these stories were too entertaining to keep to ourselves and have selected some of our favorites to share with you.
