Overview

Chronicling the path of a young man, Makail, with supernatural powers inherited from his parents, this story takes you on an incredible journey. In the fantasy realm Jackson created for this book, Makail must travel to another land, Pithlyn, to find safety under the queen. As his former land attacks Pithlyn upon his escape, finding safety turns into protecting Pithlyn while falling in love with the queen.

Jackson also incorporates poetry in a way never before done. Without interrupting the flow of action in his story, two of his characters speak in iambic pentameter, which is displayed in poetic format in the appendix.

About the Author

I first started writing poetry when I was sixteen. My mom told me the most difficult form of poetry to write is a sonnet. So I wrote one. The sonnet quickly became my outlet for all those adolescent emotions. My collection of sonnets now exceeds 160.

What makes the sonnet so difficult is the iambic pentameter. (It's also not easy to keep a cohesive piece when rhyme is required.) The iambic pentameter became a strong focus for me, and by December of 2009, I didn't want my sonnets to be the only place for such a lovely meter. That's when I began writing Storytale. A novel with iambic pentameter woven throughout.

I graduated college in the winter of 2008, so only three years removed from college, I work full time and take care of my family: wife and three boys.
