Still Standing is a collection of inspirational stories that reflect the lives of people from different social-economic situations and periods of time; these compelling stories are as relevant today as they were back then. The common thread among the characters in this book is their level of faith and perseverance when faced with life's difficulties.
Hanna Soto is an immigrant employee in the 1950's of a sweatshop who faces gender discrimination. Joel Bentancourt is forced to make a moral decision about an inheritance. In "Unresolved" Elena and Susana are victimized by family secrets that force them to face the many hard realities. "The Waiting Room" is an autobiographical account of the author's diagnosis of ovarian cancer amidst the 2020 pandemic. A diagnosis (as a young woman) with anxiety disorder compounds her dilemma.
Although the character's outcome is not always predictable, at the end of the day, regardless of life's challenges, they are all Still Standing.
At the end of each chapter, there is a "Reflection" section where the reader has the opportunity to reflect on their own lives as it pertains to the stories.
