It is perhaps no great exaggeration to presume that the number of times the Steve Jobs story has been told is roughly comparable to the number of iPhones that have been sold since the revolutionary Apple smartphone was first introduced in 2007. As history attests, there are few people about whom more books and articles have ever been written.

Yet for all the media coverage that Steve Jobs has attracted throughout his storied career, there's a tangible sense among the general public that we never fully knew the real man behind the legend. In The Life & Death Of Steve Jobs: "One More Thing..." Michael Essany chronicles Steve Jobs's awe-inspiring accomplishments and sheds light on the little known personal details of Jobs's life.

BIO OUTLINE:

Chapter 1: More Than Meets The i
Chapter 2: For the Love of the Game
Chapter 3: Underrated After All?
Chapter 4: Steve's Three Stories

Chapter 6: Mourning in America

Quicklets: Your Reading Sidekick!

Steve Jobs is Walter Isaacson’s fourth major biography, and it was his account of the lives of Albert Einstein and Benjamin Franklin that led Steve Jobs to approach Isaacson about writing his own biography. Isaacson attended Harvard University where he earned a B.A. in history and literature, and he also attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. Isaacson currently serves as chairman of the board for Teach for America and the Broadcasting Board of Governors. He began his career at the The Sunday Times of London before joining TIME Magazine in 1978, where he eventually became editor in 1996. He became Chairman and CEO of CNN in 2001, then became President and CEO of the Aspen Institute in 2003.

Isaacson enjoyed unprecedented access to Steve Jobs, drawing on over forty exclusive interviews with the tech icon dating back to 2009 for this biography. Isaacson’s other notable biographies include Einstein: His Life and Universe (2007), Benjamin Franklin: An American Life (2003), and Kissinger: A Biography (1992).

Steve Jobs was published only weeks after Jobs passed, and the book immediately jumped to the top of every bestseller list in the country. The hotly anticipated biography sold 37,000 copies in its first five days, setting a record for any book, fiction or nonfiction, hardcover or paperback.

Amazon recently announced that Steve Jobs was Amazon’s bestselling book of 2011. Sony has already acquired the rights to the film version of the biography, and there are rumors that Aaron Sorkin, who adapted The Social Network for the big screen could be writing the screenplay.

I, Steve: Steve Jobs in His Own Words is a 160-page book divided into two major sections: “Quotations” and “Milestones.”

The quotes are organized under 153 headings, most with a single quote, though some have two or more. They are presented in alphabetical order. Many of the quotes have to do with Apple Computer, product design and other business topics such as branding, hiring employees, motivating workers, etc. But almost as many reflect on Steve's philosophy on life and death, as well as his insights on education, art, material wealth, success, and failure.

“Milestones” lists the significant events in Steve's life, beginning with his birth in San Francisco and subsequent adoption in 1955 and ending with his death in 2011.

The book ends with the text Steve Job's resignation letter as CEO of Apple and with a list of citations.
