this collection, stead.fast.sad.ness, is inspired by pain, with the desire to heal, and with the understanding that, to me, these are the truths of my life story. poetry resonates with souls and lingers long past the words have been read. it marinates and is poignant. my life story is worth the weight of all the emotions, and this book encompasses them all. the story is the unfolding of my life, my traumas, my pain, my breaking, my healing, my deep emotions. this collection of my poetry gives space for the things too feared to be uttered aloud. it is meant to give others a safe space to allow that pain to enter, with room to relate and reflect. to instigate critical analysis of how important it is to understand our traumas, to grow and heal from them. for those who struggle with mental health, eating disorders, as well as the awareness of perpetual sexual assault that is so often normalized, the poems will especially resonate with those readers. this is my truth.
