Spirit Warriors: The Foundation is an action, fantasy book about a race of beings known as ensali, a super-powered race of beings who use an innate energy source known as sum to transform their desires and cognitive thoughts into powers.
The story follows a boy named Sonshi who was born into the lowest class of ensali. All his life, Sonshi has been a servant at the Vosoazanta, a giant, religious monument to the unity of the eight ensali tribes. Sonshi's aspiration to escape his life of servitude is to become a spirit warrior, or sumbanwe in the ensali language, by achieving a position into The Foundation where they train youths into the elite sumbanwe of the future. Sadly, Sonshi has a bit of a temper, and that temper put his opportunity to become a sumbanwe in jeopardy.
Sonshi must prove to all eight tribes he is worthy of a chance to fight his way into The Foundation. With such an objective, it would be easy for anyone to break under the pressure. Will Sonshi break? Or will he last through eight tasks and prove his worth as a sumbanwe? All the answers lie within The Foundation.
