About the Author

Abby Marks Beale used to HATE to read. She went through her adolescent life, four years of college and three years working in the business world with the weight of this disdain. In a serendipitous turn of events, she became a reading and study skills educator. Through job training, she learned some simple strategies that made reading more enjoyable and it changed her outlook on reading for good! Now, she can’t imagine her life without dynamic and versatile reading skills and is passionate about helping others change their outlook on reading as well. Since 1988, Abby has been developing and teaching simple strategies for smarter, faster and just plain better reading. In 1994, she published Success Skills: Strategies for Study and Lifelong Learning (Cengage), in 2001 she came out with 10 Days to Faster Reading (Philip Lief Group), and in 2008 she published The Complete Idiot's Guide to Speed Reading (Penguin). In 2010 she created her own online speed reading course called Rev It Up Reading that is currently subscribed to by readers around the world. For the past 30+ years, she has been teaching students and educators in high schools, colleges and universities, business professionals in Fortune 500 companies, associations, small businesses and government agencies, and anyone else who wants to improve their reading speed.
