Overview

Growing up in South Texas I have heard a lot of scary stories and local legends over the years. From 'El Chupacabra' to a local creek in my hometown, I have always been fascinated with tales of the unknown. So, I have decided to share these stories with the world in my own way. Many of the tales within are based on firsthand accounts and personal experiences of my family, friends, and me. While others are inspired by famous Ghost Stories from across the south.

So, prepare yourself for nightmares of demons, ghosts, and sinister creatures. For in the dark, no one really knows what hides behind the trees, brush, and wide-open plains. And as you imagine whatever horrors may be out there remember...

About the Author

For most of my childhood, I found it difficult to read long novels and complex writing. I have always wanted to be a reader, and I found myself pushing greatly to complete books like Harry Potter, The Great Gatsby, Maniac McGee, and The Hobbit. However, the books that I always enjoyed reading were those filled with short stories. I used to read books like Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Tales to Tell at Midnight, and Encyclopedia Brown to build my confidence in reading as they made me feel accomplished with every story I finished. Then in 2002, I had an experience that would take me on a 20-year journey to complete one of the greatest dreams I could ever hope to accomplish. I was left abandoned by my comrades at an H.E.B. in Falfurrias, TX one night and proceeded to walk back home in pitch-black darkness down a long empty road. All manner of thoughts ran through my head as to what was lurking in the shadows. Even though I was angry and terrified of being alone, I couldn't help but think to myself, "This would make a great story someday!" And after so many years later, I have finally accomplished my dream. The South Texas Scary Stories series begins with that tale, followed by the many other stories I picked up along the way.

My hope in writing these books is to show my children, and others, that when you try hard enough to achieve your goals, anything is possible. Maybe one day these stories could help children who also have difficulty reading build their confidence one short story at a time.
