Soulful Words
Soulful words is a narrative of the encounters of racism 9 Black Students faced while in a higher educational institution. This book takes you on a journey, told through the eyes of the researcher and shares her experiences while researching how discrimination impacts the journey of Black and marginalized students in higher education. Throughout the book Ingram shares her experiences with her alter ego, Busara, who challenges her and supports her through the journey. This book provides a counterstory to how we label students as dropouts vs. pushouts, and compares their experiences to currently enrolled students and graduates. It reminds us that racism still exist in higher education and even teaches us how to solve many of the challenges through a diverse and inclusive lens.
