Her voice was supple, her popularity high, and she was working with such luminaries as Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington. Here, she doesn't flex her jazz muscles, which is only appropriate since holiday music sounds best when it's delivered straight. And Songs from White Christmas is certainly delivered straight, complete with lush orchestras and sweet arrangements.
