About the Author

DR. NOBLE S. PROCTOR was a Professor of Ornithology at Southern Connecticut State University for 34 years, where he is now Professor Emeritus. With over 40 years of field experience throughout North America, he has also spent nearly 40 years leading bird tours around the world, from Central and Southern America to Australia and New Guinea. As well as being a prolific author, he has developed a fine reputation as an ornithological photographer, and his work in the field of ornithology has won him the Connecticut Conservationist Award and the Mabel Osgood Wright Award for achievements in ornithology.
