Son of the Dawn (Ghosts of the Shadow Market, #1)
The Lightwoods, the Shadowhunters who run the New York Institute, are expecting a new addition to their family: the orphaned son of their father's friend, Jace Wayland. Alec and Isabelle aren't too sure they want a new brother, and their parents are not assuaging their fears, too occupied with the dark news that Raphael Santiago, second-in-command of the New York vampire clan, has brought from the Shadow Market.

Editorial Reviews

JUNE 2018 - AudioFile

This story from the Ghosts of the Shadow Market series falls into the time span between the Infernal Devices trilogy and the start of the Mortal Instruments series. Narrator Reilly Dolman employs deep, resonant tones for Silent Brother Zachariah’s mind speech, matching his character perfectly. Raphael, second in command of New York’s vampires, raises concerns about a deadly drug. When Brother Zachariah brings the information to the New York Institute, the Lightwoods realize the shipment is to arrive on the same ship as their new foster child, Jonathan. Dolman’s battle narration is entertaining and enhanced well by nuanced variations in accents and tempo. Fans of the series will be thrilled with both the glimpse of Zachariah’s origins and the introduction of Jace Herondale and the Lightwood siblings. J.M. © AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine
