Overview

Cage York has to choose between a love of the game and a love of the girl in this sultry Sea Breeze novel from New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines.

Cage York finally has everything he ever wanted.

And Eva is at the very top of that list-the perfect girl with a temper as hot as her fabulously flawless body. But for Cage, a baseball scholarship has always been a close second. So when Cage finally gets his chance, he and Eva must endure a long distance relationship-and all the dangerous temptations that come with it. Temptations that former bad boy Cage York may not be able to escape.

Then after receiving some illicit photos that show Cage has been behaving badly-very badly-Eva finds solace in the comforting arms of her insanely attractive neighbor Jeremy, who vows that he will take care of Eva in ways Cage never could. It's an offer that may be too good for Eva to turn down.

Torn between his baseball dream and the girl of this dreams, Cage must prove he's worthy of Eva's love, or risk losing her to Jeremy forever.

Small-town girl Eva and bad-boy Cage (previously seen in While It Lasts) make a steamy duo in this addition to Glines’s Sea Breeze series, which offers little unexpected, but plenty of explicit sex, yearning, and misconstrued signals. Eva has already been through a lot, having lost both her mother and her first serious boyfriend, Josh. When she meets Cage, a talented baseball player with a wild side, she’s surprised that she falls so hard for him, and so fast. She’s sure Cage is the one for her, until her father is diagnosed with terminal cancer, and Cage, away at college on a baseball scholarship, turns up in compromising photos. Devastated, Eva finds comfort with Josh’s twin brother, Jeremy, even as Cage vows to win her back. It’s clear from the beginning where this relationship is headed; the writing is often overdramatized and clichéd, the many sex scenes full of flicked nipples, invading tongues, and wet panties. It’ll fit the bill for those looking for a quick, raunchy read, but anyone seeking a story with real legs should look elsewhere. Ages 16–up. Agent: Jane Dystel, Dystel & Goderich Literary Management. Gr 10 Up—Eva Brooks and Cage York are living together in Sea Breeze, Alabama, when Cage finds out he's been awarded a baseball scholarship. The catch? The scholarship is to Hill State in Tennessee. A future in baseball is Cage's dream come true, but shortly before the two leave Sea Breeze, Eva finds out her father is sick and may not have long to live. Together they decide it's best for Cage to go ahead to Tennessee. The two struggle to maintain their long distance relationship, but when Cage's roommate puts him in some awkward situations and sends Eva deceptive texts and videos, their love is soon on the rocks. She turns to her handsome neighbor for comfort, but Cage hopes to win her back. Fans of the series and of the author's previous books won't be disappointed with this melodramatic and standalone novel entry.
