Overview

Humor on college campuses? Not so much! If any significant amount at all, it is generally within the student ranks. Administrators and staff are too busy by administering and coordinating. Faculty are far too busy teaching, debating, and engaging in scholarly inquiry.
Fortunately, there is a small number in higher education who sees a bit of humor in daily activities. This book highlights the observations of one individual whose journey in this arena spans forty-eight years, 1959–2007. Included is a potpourri of vignettes, chock-full of wit and wisdom.
The vignettes take place in venues the likes of athletic field, president's office, sit-in, prison, hospital, and corn patch.
This book should be of great interest to both faculty and administrators. The public domain has always been curious about the inner workings of higher education. Now it has the chance to have a portion of its curiosity satisfied through this humorous work.

About the Author

Leo McGee entered college in 1959 as a student athlete. Football was his sport of choice. He began his professional career as a public-school teacher in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio. After three years on the job, Ohio State University beckoned him to do a graduate study. There he earned the master’s and PhD degrees. The institution summoned him to be assistant director and director of clinical experience in the college of education. Then there was the position of curriculum chair at Tennessee State University. His OSU mentor, now president of Tennessee Technological University, insisted that he join him.
During his thirty-year career at TTU, McGee was assistant dean, associate dean, assistant VP, associate VP, and interim VP for academic affairs. He has written or cowritten five books on subjects relating to African American studies, grant acquisition for classroom teachers, and regional Tennessee history. His current title is associate vice president and professor emeritus.
