Meet Solomon Elon, a young ambitious man whose father was the biggest drug dealer that the State of Connecticut has ever known!
He was introduced to the life at an early age. His father, a Puerto Rican man by the name of Israel, had control of the streets of Harlem for many years, until he was incarcerated for several years in upstate New York. Upon his release from one of New York’s most notorious prisons, he moved to Hartford, Connecticut to rebuild his drug empire. For years he ruled the streets of Hartford with an iron fist, until he was set up by a group of rival gangsters and sent back to prison.
It was because of his involvement with the streets that his wife Sasha was murdered right in front of Solomon and his older brother Adonijah by some ruthless Jamaicans who were sending a massage to Israel. Parentless, they had to move in with their grandmother, a kind and caring lady who raised them as their father was serving out his sentence. It didn’t do too much good to have been raised there either, seeing that their uncle’s were heavy in the drug trade as well.
At age fourteen, Solomon’s uncles had supplied him with marijuana to sell for them on the other side of town. Even at such a young age, he quickly learned the game. He was always a big kid, and he developed a reputation in the streets for being a good fighter. Over the years, he and his best friend Tyrell systematically took over the drug trade in the city of Hartford in a way that even his father could only envy! His older brother Adonijah traveled a different path than Solomon and his father.
He was into football very heavily, and was one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Although they took different paths in life, they loved each other dearly and never once did they judge one another. After a series of unfortunate events, Adonijah was kicked out of college his senior year and his hopes for a future in the NFL turned into a dying dream.
With the help of his long-time girlfriend (who eventually became his wife), he found his spiritual calling and became a teacher/business owner of an African based organization called “The United Nuwaupian Nation of Moors” and started a chapter in downtown Hartford. Although his path in life is being a successful businessman, he still has undying love for both his father and brother. How can this family function with such a dysfunctional life style?

About the Author

Trent Smith was born in Spindale, a small town in the Foothills of North Carolina. He is the youngest of five siblings, and has only the fondest of memories of his upbringing. His father, a Baptist minister, and his mother, a beautician by trade, were both well loved and respected in the small communit
He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of nineteen, and was stationed in San Diego, California. It was on the U.S.S. Cowpens CG 63 that he had gotten his first taste of history, culture, and love of self and kind through literature. While out to sea, he became infatuated with prominent black authors such as, James Baldwin, Nikki Giovanni, Langston Hughes, Alex Haley, and so many others. Those authors led him in the direction of more revolutionary writers like, Bobby Seale, Huey P. Newton, Eldridge Cleaver, and Frantz Fanon…all of whom gave him inspiration.
After a three and a half year stint in the military, he moved back east to Hartford, Connecticut and began working as a postal clerk. It was in Connecticut that he was introduced to the literature of the streets. He read all of Iceberg Slim (Robert Beck) and Donald Goines (Al C. Clark) novels and became influenced due to what he was seeing in the streets of present day, and how they have not changed much since the times when they were writing.
In 2005, he moved to Savannah, Georgia after the tragic passing of his mother due to complications from stomach cancer. It was there that a close friend of his suggested that he should write a book. He scoffed at the idea at first, but after watching an episode of David Duchovny’s “Californication”, his curiosity of the difficulties of writing got the best of him. That same night, he started writing a book called “Solomon”, and four weeks later the entire novel was done. He has never looked back since!
He writing style is a mixture of Donald Goines, Iceberg Slim, and (strangely enough!) Terry McMillan.

Trent Smith presently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his oldest daughter, Natazia LaRue Smith.
