About the Author

Renee Daniel Flagler is an award-winning freelance writer, award-nominated author, creative writing teaching artist, and a literacy advocate who has treasured the art of writing since she was a young girl. Since 2004, Renee has six published books. Her latest novels are Still Raging and Society Wives, which has been optioned for film. Renee is currently at work on her next novel, The Second Wives Club and is scheduled to release her first romance series in the fall of 2015 through Harlequin's Kimani Romance imprint under the pseudonym Nicki Night. Renee currently serves as the Chairperson of the Board for L.E.A.P (Literacy Empowerment & Action Project), whose mission is to use innovative literacy, school improvement, and girls' empowerment programming to expand educational opportunities and to strengthen communities in Ghana and other developing nations. Renee has received many accolades including, an award for Excellence in Journalism by the New York Association of Black Journalists. She was honored by Black Star News for her accomplishments in business, and honored at the Unlock Your Dreams conference. She has also received an Entrepreneur of the Year award by C&B Books Distribution. Renee and her works have been featured in The Network Journal, Ebony Magazine, The New York Amsterdam News, Our Times, Caribbean Life, and Black Star News to name a few. She has also appeared on The Angie Le Mar Show on Choice FM, the UK's leading Hip Hop and R&B station, WAOK Talk Radio in Atlanta, and WHCR and WBAI in New York City. Renee teaches creative writing in the Arts in Education programs of the New York City and Nassau County Departments of Education. She's also dedicated to empowering women to pursue their passions and mentoring at-risk teens by impacting literacy in inner city communities through various writing and mentoring programs. Renee is pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing and is a graduate of New School University with a Masters in Media Arts and St. John's University with a Bachelor of Science in Communications.
