About the Author

Nefertiti Bruce, M.Ed., is an Early Childhood Specialist and trainer for the Devereux Early Childhood Initiative. She received her undergraduate degree from Virginia State University, and her graduate degree from Chestnut Hill College in Pennsylvania. Nefertiti provides professional development and consultation to early childhood programs across the nation, and is the co-author of Building Your Bounce: Simple Strategies for a Resilient You, a tool for adults that can help them strengthen their resilience. She currently resides in Philadelphia, PA, near family and friends. Karen B. Cairone, M.Ed., is a graduate of Lafayette College and received her Master's degree in Education from Rutgers University. She is Special Projects/Trainer for the Devereux Early Childhood Initiative, where she is responsible for resource development, serves as editor of the national newsletter, and works on various other special projects for DECI. She is the co-writer and co-producer of the Facing the Challenge DVDs, Classroom Moments DVD and accompanying training, and the co-author of For Now and Forever: A Family Guide for the Social and Emotional Development of Infants and Toddlers.

Karen B. Cairone, MEd, is a senior training and technical assistance associate at Education Development Center.

Formerly, she was a special projects/trainer for the Devereux Early Childhood Initiative (DECI), where she was responsible for resource development, served as editor of the national newsletter, and worked on various other special projects for DECI. She continues to work as a consultant for Devereux.
