The first division consists of 38 chapters with a brief overview of a presenting clinical sign (applicable definitions, causes, clinical findings, diagnostic approach, and treatment). The second division consists of 12 chapters with brief overviews of diseases associated with organ systems followed by study questions. The third division consists of 100 multiple choice self-assessment questions followed by explanatory answers.
Audience: The target audience for this book is veterinary medical students preparing for national board examinations. The authors are instructors in companion animal medicine and have targeted the level of this book appropriately for veterinary students interested in brief reviews and self-assessment of their knowledge base in small animal internal medicine.
Features: The cover of the book features pictures of a cow, cat, sheep, and dog — an unusual cover for a book on small animal internal medicine. The table of contents omits giving page numbers for Part III of the book, and adding page numbers for the self-assessment questions and for the answers would make the book more user friendly.
