About the Author

Lawrence Edward Carter, Sr., Ph.D. has been the founding Dean of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel at the Morehouse in Atlanta, Georgia since 1979. He is also Professor of Religion, College Archivist and Curator. Carter is the author of Walking Integrity: Mentor to Martin Luther King Jr., Global Ethical Options in the Tradition of Gandhi, King and Ikeda, with George David Miller and Neelakanta Radhakrishnan, and The Baptist Preacher’s Buddhist Teacher: How My Interfaith Journey with Daisaku Ikeda Made Me A Better Christian, which has been translated into Japanese and Portuguese.


Jodi L. Henderson is the Executive Director of SlaveFree Today and founding Editor in Chief of the Journal of Modern Slavery. She presents and advocates world-wide, throughout the United States to The Hague and London. As a consultant, speaker, writer, editor, and educator, she has worked against slavery and championed human rights for over a decade.


Tina Davis is a doctor in sociology and social policy with 16 years of experience working in
the area of modern slavery and human rights. She works for Coretta and Martin Luther King
Institute for Peace, and she is a researcher, advisor, educator, writer, speaker, and award-
winning documentary-maker of the film Modern Slavery featured on Netflix Europe.
