About the Author

Last January my Golden Retriever, Teddy, was diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoma of the stomach and intestines. It took me almost a month of vet visits once or twice a week to finally get the correct diagnosis. His blood work came back normal, his x-rays showed nothing, yet he vomited almost and had diarrhea on and off for a month. I was soo frustrated that I could not help my precious boy.

After his diagnosis, I was handed a sheet of paper with foods that he could eat as a cancer patient while on the monthly chemo pills. Since I like to cook I decided to research extensively what foods cancer patients should be eating and started his new diet rich in lean proteins, high in antioxidents, green super foods and Omega 3 and 6 oils. Teddy went into remission, he felt much better (and so did I !) and had energy again. He felt wonderful until his last day when he bled out and we said goodbye to my beloved Teddsie.

My commitment to helping people who are facing cancer in their fur kids prompted me to write this cookbook and share the knowledge I gained on my journey with Teddsie. Since publishing my cookbook I have partnered with a wonderful non profit foundation named 2milliondogs.org. Their mission is to find common links between human and canine cancer and they have walks all across the country to raise awareness that cancer touches everyone and raise money for cancer research. I know that many of you have faced similar challenges in loved ones or are living with cancer yourself.
About 6 months ago, I saw on facebook a study that is being conducted by the Morris Animal Foundation, It is a Golden Retriever Lifetime study. I applied to this study with my young Golden, Jordan. He was accepted into the life time study and we hope that the information obtained will help ways to better prevent cancer and other diseases in Goldens and improve the health of all dog breeds.

I am also a volunteer for As Good as Gold Golden Retriever rescue of Illinois and participate in transport and fundraising for this non-profit organization. I also love to foster and especially dear to my heart are the retired breeder moms who need lots of love and patience. They are shy and have not been able to live the golden life until now.
