Overview

A live set based around the Vibrations' 1964-1965 Okeh recordings. Okeh tried everything but never did break this excellent group into the big time. Emulated by everybody from the Contours and the Five Du-tones to the O'Jays and Temptations, the Vibrations -- Ricky Owens, Carlton Fisher, James Johnson, David Govan, and Donald Bradley -- were a five-tool group who could sing, dance, entertain, write, and produce when allowed. An extremely visual act, a live recording by them helps but isn't the same as being there. Still, the Los Angeles group (who began as the Jayhawks) struts their stuff and drives the audience zany with live renditions of "Misty," "Watusi Time," "Finding Out the Hard Way," "Sloop Dance," "Keep on Keeping On," and more. ~ Andrew Hamilton
