Moving to a new town can be a tough thing to deal with for any child. There's always pressure and desire to make new friends. For young Allison, it was Tommy she befriended. A red jacket, stripy shirt, blue jeans, and a bright blue cap covering his thick blond hair. Nothing too out of the ordinary, right? But wait. Look closer. He has no shadow-his pale face with its electric-blue eyes that stare right into your soul. Allison doesn't know anything about him. The first time she saw him in her house, she played with Barbie dolls with him. When her mom comes up to see them, she finds Allison all alone. No one seems to have seen him other than Allison and her sister. She doesn't know why he has chosen her to show himself to, or what his intentions are. Maybe it has something to do with the big empty house that her family has moved into. Time passes, and all grown up, adult Allison tries to make sense of her past experiences and is ready to be done with Tommy. But Tommy is not done with her. Now a mother, one day Allison's daughter mentions seeing a strange pale boy. Will Allison ever be done with him?
