Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery
The Sharon Baptist Church was chartered by 17 members of a small farming community of pious, hard-working people on July 16, 1846. The cemetery is nestled behind the former Sharon Baptist Church. The graves are listed in order by rows and markers, and numbered accordingly. The burial site that draws the most attention is that of my fifth great grandparents. The inhabitants of this site are William Buice (April 23, 1804 - January 26, 1887) and Mary Ann Mathis Buice (January 22, 1804 - December 12, 1880). They were married in 1822 and together they produced 16 offspring.
This work documents grave stones that were transcribed in 2004 at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, gives short anecdotal accounts told to me by my maternal grand-mother, and provides an assortment of cherished family photos.
