Overview

A haunting hair-raiser resurrected with a NEW recording and NEW narrator.

“His prose mesmerizes...Koontz consistently hits the bull's-eye.” -Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

Rachel's request for a quick and clean divorce enraged her husband. She'd never seen Eric so angry, so consumed by pure and terrifying hatred. Then, in the heat of the moment, Eric was killed in a traffic accident. Shocked and relieved, Rachel had nothing left to fear. Until Eric's body disappeared from the morgue-and suddenly, Rachel is being stalked by someone who looks just like her dead husband.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Praise for Dean Koontz

“Dean Koontz is a prose stylist whose lyricism heightens malevolence and tension. [He creates] characters of unusual richness and depth.”—The Seattle Times

“Tumbling, hallucinogenic prose....‘Serious’ writers...might do well to examine his technique.”—The New York Times Book Review

“Lyrical writing and compelling characters...Koontz stands alone.”—Associated Press

“In every industry there exist ‘artists’ that are not only unforgettable, but know their craft better than the rest. Dean Koontz...is among these artisans.”—Suspense Magazine

“[Koontz] has always had near-Dickensian powers of description, and an ability to yank us from one page to the next that few novelists can match.”—Los Angeles Times

“Perhaps more than any other author, Koontz writes fiction perfectly suited to the mood of America...novels that acknowledge the reality and tenacity of evil but also the power of good...[and that] entertain vastly as they uplift.”—Publishers Weekly

OCTOBER 2008 - AudioFile

He's back, folks! Thriller legend Dean Koontz offers yet another horror story that echoes many of his earlier works but lacks the originality. This time a young woman named Rachel thinks she’s being haunted by her abusive late husband, Eric, whose body disappeared from the morgue. She’s certain he’s dead set on ruining her life once and for all because she told him of her plans for divorce just before his accidental death. The narration by Sandra Burr is quite dead as well, especially her turn as Eric, who sounds forced and mechanical. Burr reads as if this is a story for young listeners, dumbing it down and offering uninspired voices that are more likely to make one laugh than gasp. A big disappointment.
