Regardless of how we've come to the point where we are now, it is never too late to change course and determine our own destiny. Absolutely anything is possible regardless of how we were raised or the decisions we've made. Although we may be products of our environment, it is a choice to see ourselves as either victims of our past or as victors over it. The author of this book has risen above controlling and neglectful parents, religious indoctrination, physical and mental abuse at the hands of caregivers, and misuse of drugs and alcohol. Once in need of shepherding, guidance and direction, I separated from the flock I belonged to, quickly becoming vulnerable to the wolves who would seek to devour me. Today, after many years of trial and experience, being separated from the flock has taken on new meaning. I am not lost and I am no part of the herd. There is no pen that can contain me. I am in control of my own life and each choice I make determines my future. This is my story.
